Connecting your own AI key (BYOK)

If you have your own AI key, connect it in Settings > AI brains. Work that runs on your key doesn't spend thinking credits, because you're paying the AI cost directly. Credits for the number of steps still apply.

Two ways to connect.

- Log in: OpenRouter connects with a click and a login. No key to create and copy. On a free account we'll pick a free model for you. - Paste a key: provider keys like Anthropic or OpenAI are pasted in.

After connecting, the list shows your remaining balance and today's spend. If the balance runs out we fall back to our brains and tell you. Nothing fails silently.
